The History Of Leeds First

Congregational Holiness Church

Leeds First Congrgational Holiness Church originated from services held by Sister Jewell Shuler and Sister Dora Willean Lee in a store building, circa 1961-62.

On August 1, 1964, the Leeds First Holiness Congregational Church moved into their new home, which is our current location today, with Sister Shuler serving as our first Pastor. From 1964 - 1967, Brother Jack Blalock, Brother Amos Spivey, and Brother Virdie Lee Gentry pastored here.

In 1967, Sister Lee was called to Pastor, and remained Pastor until her call to sit with The Lord on August 5, 1986. Brother Ricky Lee was then called to Pastor, and pastored the church until 1994. Brother Ricky Boshell was then called to Pastor, and pastored less than a year.

In 1995, Sister Frances Batson was called to Pastor, and is our current Pastor. We offer special thanks to our Pillars of the Church, Brother Frank Lee, Brother Marvin Lee, Brother Arlon Falkner, Brother Bradford Turner, Sister Vernia Benefield, among others.
